About FE to PE Prep
fetope.com is an independent practice platform for the NCEES FE and PE exams: 22,000+ original questions with worked solutions across 11 exams. This page says plainly what it is, how the questions are written and checked, who it suits — and who would be better served by something else. You should not have to take a prep site's word for its own quality, so it starts with what you can check yourself.
Judge it yourself first
All of this is open, with no account and no email:
- Free practice problems for every exam — ten per exam, each with the full worked solution. Solve one, then compare our working with yours.
- Problems from the bank worked end to end, figures included: PE HVAC and PE Power — including why each wrong answer is on the list.
- Every NCEES pass rate, sourced line by line — a fair test of how careful we are with facts, because several figures repeated across the web do not match NCEES's own report.
Who runs it
fetope.com is operated by Fetope LLC, a limited liability company formed in Ohio, USA, trading as FE to PE Prep. It is a small, independent company — not a division of a publisher, a university or a course provider. You can reach us at [email protected].
NCEES® is a registered trademark of the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying. fetope.com is an independent study resource and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by NCEES.
What it covers
11 NCEES computer-based exams. Each bank is written to the exam specification NCEES has in force, and to be solved with the reference NCEES supplies on screen — so a method you practise here is one you can carry out on exam day.

Specification dates are the effective dates NCEES prints on each exam specification. NCEES revises them; check ncees.org for the one that applies to your exam date.
Alongside the question banks there are free study guides built on NCEES's own published data, free practice problems for every exam, and a free PE experience tracker.
How the questions are written and checked
- Original, and written to the source. Every question is our own work, written against the current NCEES exam specification and the reference handbook NCEES supplies on exam day. We do not use NCEES questions, recalled exam content, or anyone else's question bank.
- Built from templates. Most questions come from a template whose numbers vary, so the same idea can be practised more than once without memorising an answer. In calculation questions the wrong choices are computed too — most are what a specific mistake produces, and the worked solution names it. 5,700+ questions carry a figure drawn for that problem, because exam problems arrive with one.
- Re-derived independently. The bank is under continuous audit. Working through it exam by exam, every answer is derived again from the problem statement alone, without sight of our own solution; a disagreement is settled against the NCEES reference handbook, and the fix is made at the template.
- Gated before every release. Nothing ships until the whole bank passes automated checks — for example, no two answer choices may read the same, and every formula must render.
- Corrected at the source. Every question carries a “Report an issue” button. Reports come straight to us, and a confirmed error is fixed at the template, so every variant of the question is corrected at once.

Who it suits — and who it does not
It suits people who learn by working problems: you have the degree or the experience, you want exam-shaped questions with solutions that show every step, and you would rather set your own schedule than follow someone else's.
Something else will serve you better if:
- You need a teacher and a timetable. A live or on-demand review course gives you lectures, deadlines and someone to ask. We have none of those.
- You learn by reading first. A printed review manual covers theory at a depth a question bank does not try to. Many people pair a manual with a bank.
- You want the closest thing to the real exam. That is the official NCEES practice exam, written by the organisation that writes the real one. We recommend buying it whatever else you use. It is a single exam, so it works best as a final timed check — with a question bank for the weeks of practice that come before it.
Price and refunds
Access is a one-time pass for one exam, for 1, 3, 6 or 12 months. It is not a subscription and nothing renews automatically. Current prices are on the pricing page; the terms for refunds are in the refund policy. You can try demo questions on any exam before paying anything.
Common questions
- How do I know the answers are right?
- Three ways, and you can test the first yourself. The free practice pages show full worked solutions with no signup, so you can check our working against your own before paying anything. Behind that, the bank is under continuous audit: working through it exam by exam, every answer is derived again from the problem statement alone, without sight of our solution, and a disagreement is settled against the NCEES reference handbook. And every question has a "Report an issue" button; a confirmed error is fixed at the template, which corrects every variant at once.
- Are these the same questions as the real exam?
- No, and no honest question bank can say otherwise: NCEES does not release its exam questions, and every examinee accepts a nondisclosure agreement before the exam starts. Ours are original problems written to the topics in the published NCEES specification and solvable with the reference handbook NCEES supplies. The closest thing to the real exam is the official NCEES practice exam, which we recommend buying whatever else you use.
- Can I see the questions before I pay?
- Yes. There are free practice problems with full worked solutions for all 11 exams, with no signup, and demo questions on every exam inside the product at no cost. Several of the free guides also work real problems from the bank end to end, figures included.

- Is fetope.com affiliated with NCEES?
- No. fetope.com is an independent study resource and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by NCEES. The questions are original work written to NCEES's published exam specifications and reference handbooks; none are NCEES questions, and none are copied from another publisher.
